Balls and Ramps Unit

Here are some amazing ramps created by our first graders. Their task was to build a ramp that caused a ball to move quickly enough to knock down a stack of cups. They worked so well, that I believe we have some engineers in the making here at Glickman!!!

Time for slime - - - FUN FRIDAY!

Slime!

Mix 1/2 cup of school glue with 1/2 cup of water. Add coloring of your choice to the glue mixture. In another bowl mix 1 tsp. Borax with 1 cup of water. Slowly add the Borax mixture to the glue mixture while stirring. This forms cross links between the molecules in the borax and glue. A reaction has occurred and slim has formed. Enjoy!

Our second grade students got to see how a strainer can be used to separate two solids: gravel and salt!

We had a great time in Mrs. Woods class today! Our wonderful scientists had some wonderful design ideas to tackle the challenge to "Stop the Meltdown." Their task was to create a container that would keep an ice cube from melting. After an hour and a half of letting the ice cubes sit, I judged each design and found some amazing results!!!! I am so proud of these kids!

I had a great time meeting everyone's families at open house last night. It was so nice to see such bright, wonderful, and loving faces.

Some 5th graders having a good time sorting their Owl Pellet bones. Can you guess what type of animal that is?

Greetings Glickman Families!

Greetings Glickman families! I am so happy to be teaching Science to your wonderful students this year. We have already had so much fun and we have only just begun. Please follow my blog to see images and descriptions of what your awesome students are up to in Science class this year.
